    Luke Wallens

    Registered Drama Therapist

    About

Drama Therapy has helped me experiment with and embody different thoughts, emotions and ideas so I could better process my given situations and issues. Through imagined scenarios and playing out different characteristics of the self, I design the work to help clients face fears and hesitations, discover what self-care looks for them, how to work with rejection, recover from harmful situations and build resilience for a renewed sense of bravery and confidence.

I am a Registered Drama Therapist through the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) for the past 8 years with specific experience with: kids, teens and adults with disabilities, caretakers of all different backgrounds, and people who are further exploring their identities. I also have Master’s from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama centering on Collaborative Theater. I design workshops and series with a sociodramatic lens, meaning that I work with a group around a common theme, e.g. trust or self-advocacy, so everyone can benefit from what is discovered.

    Testimonials

Our Production Drama Therapist, Luke Wallens, has an open quality to him. Therapy is already vulnerable,  and put the word drama in front of it and your breathing may quicken. Luke captures the humor, the play, the irony, the joy and the sadness that are all components of your life’s natural drama and lays it before you to consider in a low pressure and even fun environment.
–Shannon Stott, Improv On & Off The Stage

“Luke is able to hold space for any emotion and create a pure sense of play. His work is non-judgmental, fun, and an excellent exploration into your sense of self and how you relate to the world and others. ”
    –-Taylor Love, Massage Therapist

“Luke is a wonderfully supportive and kind guide to drama therapy. I didn’t know what to expect attending a workshop for the first time but felt like I was in very safe hands, and learned a lot in a short amount of time.”
    –Nick Desai

“The drama therapy workshop today was so good! Luke has a special gift for making people feel comfortable! It was a last minute decision to go and I’m glad I did!”
    –Barry Everett

“We got to know everyone because we were encouraged to have multiple partners throughout. It allowed participants to share and connect but also allowed for people to “sit back” more if they were less comfortable sharing some things. I truly felt more reconnected to others after this workshop.”
